I feel like everyone in my family on both sides and extended family have SO many great cooks! This is a recipe that Tanya made and is AMAZING! There is some prep work, but I have made it a ton of times because of how good it tastes.
Grant is really good about eating most fruits and vegetables that I prepare for him. He gets really squeamish if anything doesn’t look 100% pristine, and if we aren’t in the mood for smoothies, I have made fruit leather a few times. I wouldn’t say that it is very cost effective if you go out and buy fruits for it, but if you have everything and want a way to use it up, this is a great way. Below are the step by step instructions that I used.
My last baby shower gift was a floor pouf which I gave to Pamela. I followed a pattern HERE from Better Homes and Gardens. As you can see, they have step by step directions that are much better than mine. They also have the printable patterns for free that I printed off. I did a few things differently that I will point out from their directions. If you want to see the Baby Shower where I gave the pouf go HERE. The hardest part about this item is the hand stitching which isn’t particularly hard just time consuming.
I was lucky enough to be able to take a vacation to South Padre Island at the beginning of June this year! This was my first vacation since our Honeymoon which is almost 4 years! I wish Grant could have come, but it ended up being just a girl’s trip. Grant had TONS of work to do and the whole time I was gone he had to work really long hours. Other than the lack of food, he probably didn’t even have a chance to miss me  since he was so busy. ;p My friend Erin, who is also in our young Married’s Group at Church, was given a three day, two night condo stay from some of her relatives that they had won. Her husband isn’t a huge beach person just like Grant isn’t, so she decided who needs guys?! So, Erin, Beth, who is also in our Young Married’s Group and works with me at the Church, and I were all able to go. We went from Austin to almost Corpus Christi, which is where Erin’s In-Laws have a beautiful Ranch and is the half way point between Austin and South Padre Island, to South Padre Island. This is a huge post with lots of pictures so enjoy!
Ever since Grant and I have been married, I have been having him rate recipes on a scale from 1-10. This is important for us because a typical recipe that I would consider at 7 like Meatloaf , Grant considers a 3. This isn’t because my recipe didn’t taste good, it just isn’t a dish that Grant wants to eat all the time and just helps communication. Now, homemade pizza on the other hand is a lot higher on the scale, in fact he would want it ever night for dinner if I didn’t want more variety. I have been so blessed in the recipe department because I have so many talented cooks and bakers in Grant’s and my family. But every once in a while, we like to try new recipe some of which are great, other not so much. This recipe is a copy cat of P.F. Chang’s Spicy Chicken, which I would highly recommend if you eat there. I found the recipe here.
So, here is the third baby shower that I have been able to help host. This shower was for Pamela, and she had helped host over 14+(totally a guess but it seems like every single one). Every one of us was trying to make sure this shower was perfect for her especially since she is into details and just loves to give her time and creative juices to anyone she can. The other fun part is that this shower was held at the same location as the first shower for Ashley that I ever helped host which you can review HERE. So, this shower has a completely different theme than the last one which was a modern “she’s going to pop” theme. For this shower we wanted it to be more shabby chic!
