Grant and I just wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! I know we have a ton to be thankful for, and I am sure you do too!
Since Grant and I moved I still feel like we are here for a prolonged visit, not that I don’t like it here; it just doesn’t feel permanent yet. Time has been dragging and flying by at all the same time. The first few weeks were crazy because of how unorganized they were, and how much we needed to get done in such a short time. Now that are our weekends aren’t completely filled with unpacking it has been lots of fun. We have visited a church a few times and even visited their young married’s care group. One of the girls there is named Jessica and later I found out her married last name is Grasham which I found kinda creepy having NEVER met someone with completely the same name as me. Anyway, I feel like it is Birthday season right now and the Holidays are fast approaching and Grant and I are still trying to figure out what we are doing for each of them.
Our place is slowly coming together, and here are some updated pictures of what we have been up to. As I mentioned in the last post, we needed some things from Ikea, and unfortunately the closest one is now in Atlanta. We would have loved to visit Simon and Sarah since from the Ikea we were only 2 hours away, but we did this trip on Friday of our first week in the area, and we had too much to unpack before we both started work full time on the following Monday. Not to mention, it would have been short notice for them and they might have had plans. So Hi Ho Hi Ho its off to Atlanta we go…
As I mentioned in a Previous Post, we were able to move into our Condo on Tuesday, and below are some of the pictures of our condo. We will be here for at least one year, and it is insane how much more room we have. We went from a 720 Sq. Ft. Â 1 bedroom one bathroom Apartment to a 1200 Sq. Ft. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Condo for only $20 more a month. 1 warning, these are all before pictures as we unpack. We still have a TON to unpack since we did so many other errands and now are both working full time. I do have to say that the industrial saran wrap was one of the best moving items we purchased especially if you have any ikea furniture. It makes sure it doesn’t get scratched or wet.
Saturday the 13th was an insane day for us. Grant and I tried to sleep in but were awake at 6am. We got up, showered, and I continued packing up the last minute items so when our help came it would all be ready. Grant went to get the penske truck only to find out I had to come with him, so he came and got me, and we went there together. After I dropped him off, I went to einstein’s bagels to pick up breakfast for everyone who was helping us move. Then I went to Walmart to get water and orange juice. If you EVER have people help you pack/move, then remember to always feed them well and have lots of water. I had cleaned all of the appliances except the fridge in advanced because I just hadn’t gotten to it yet. Everyone arrived at 10am to help us pack the penske truck. We had around 5 people in addition to Grant and I. The guys started with packing the larger items while we girls brought down everything we could so they could pack things better. As most of the things got moved out, Brandie cleaned the fridge out which was a huge help while Beth vacuumed the areas that Grant and I couldn’t get to because of boxes. Once we got to the last couple of items, I went and deep cleaned and wiped down as much as I possibly could. We had the penske, Grant’s truck, and my car ready and packed by 1:00pm. All of our help said bye and left while we went to the office to turn in our keys. We are so grateful for all of the help that we got especially since Austin isn’t that humid, but that Saturday it was. It just misted all day so it was pretty miserable. Right after turning in the keys, we went to Cedar Park, TX to Nick and Beth’s house to shower before we left on our trip.
