Our 4th Anniversary

by Jessica September 21, 2012

Grant and I recently hit the year 4 milestone of marriage. We have been so blessed in many ways by God and have also been taught important lessons. Our Anniversary is on 8/9/2008 so needless to say I am very late on posting this. This is not due to the fact that we don’t see this as important, but we tend to be more private on these things. Grant knows how I feel and he how I, and we are happy with that. Marriage has been amazing so far especially when you don’t feel married but just two great friends together for this time. We have been going to a young married’s class on Wednesdays that has been great asking what we were looking for while dating. We were both hoping to be best friends with someone for a few years before getting married and we are so thrilled and blessed that this was the case with us.

Olive Garden’s Five Cheese Alforno Copy Cat

by Jessica September 16, 2012

I sometimes feel like a broken record on this blog because most of the recipes that I post are from family and friends that I got them from. My sister Tanya is a great cook, and this is one recipe that she came up with after tasting it at Olive Garden. You can see her posted recipes HERE. I like to do the step by step photos because I feel it makes a dish less intimidating. If you see each step, I feel one is more likely to give it a try since there is no mystery of a certain word that you have never seen or heard of; hopefully you feel the same and I am not wasting my time ;p. This is the Five Cheese Alforno Olive Garden Copy Cat. If you want it to taste exactly like it, then use a spaghetti sauce that is as close to marinara as you can. I just use the same pasta sauce I use for lasagna to spaghetti to this recipe because it is easier to buy one type.

Granola Bars

by Jessica September 15, 2012

When my Cousin Simon and his Wife Sarah were in town one  time, Sarah mentioned how she had been making homemade granola bars. She was telling me about all of the different recipes she was trying. We weren’t buying that many granola bars at the time, but I kept my eyes open for a good recipe. This Blog posted a recipe that looked pretty tasty to me, and I happened to have all of the ingredients so I gave it a shot. I thought they turned out really really well. Next time I make them, I will make a few adjustments, but those are because of personal preference not because I didn’t think the original recipe wasn’t good. If I had kids, I would definitely make these one a regular basis to put in lunches or for snacks.

Baked Squash

by Jessica September 8, 2012

Rachel is a lady in our young marrieds group who always has amazing food at events. This is one of the dishes that she made, and explained the steps to me. It was spicy and not that unhealthy, and all of the men there ate some since it was so good.

Living Room Changes

by Jessica September 6, 2012

Grant and I really like the coffee table that we bought a few years ago,but it was a child death trap when our nieces came over. The glass just sits on top of the metal sculpture part which means when the girls would hang on one side, the whole glass top would start sliding towards them. Needless to say we wanted something a little bit more sturdy we were wanting something with a little bit of a different look.

Our Favorite Italian Salad Dressing

by Jessica September 5, 2012

I grew up very blessed with a mom who could cook amazingly well! Not only was her food yummy, from scratch, but it was also very healthy. I grew up eating one main salad dressing on most of our salads; I don’t think I tasted ranch dressing until high school. Below I show you how simple it is to make this recipe in specific amounts to make it easier since you have never tasted it to be able to make it “to taste.” This dressing can be made with olive oil rather than canola oil,but I prefer the taste of canola oil in this recipe.
